Erin and Jono from The Kindred Wood create their gorgeous wooden block sets from sustainable Blackbutt timber, finished with a non toxic, eco-friendly oil. The Kindred Wood workshop is in the bustling Byron Bay arts & industry estate, which is also where they source their calico bags, printing/marketing needs & eco-friendly paint and oil finishes. Their timber is sourced from Bangalow, Mullumbimby and Lismore.
Owner Erin says she strongly believes in imaginative play. Which shows through in the beautiful natural timber heirloom building blocks she creates to be passed down through the generations of her customers. For every wooden block set The Kindred Wood sell, they donate a second ‘buddy’ set to a family in need because as Erin says, “I think every child should have the opportunity for play. I love working with wood, and being able to do so while making a difference to kids who might otherwise miss out is pretty rewarding.”
