It has been a whirlwind of excitement here at Mama + Me HQ. Our biggest event yet has been met with tons of enthusiasm and positive energy. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for showing your support both online and in person, by celebrating your fellow mamapreneurs, myself included, and for continually asking, ‘When’s the next one?!’ It makes my heart sing to know that you all had such a great time!
On the 16th of January The Mullumbimby Leagues Club was transformed into The Mama + Me Markets. With over 50 stalls attending it was a full day of entertainment and fun for all ages, featuring information seminars, demonstrations, delicious eats and unique, sustainable shopping for the whole family. Approximately 500 attendees braved the weather to join us in celebrating the diversity and talent of our local family owned businesses. Our stall holders showcased some incredibly fresh, unique products, all made or designed locally, using sustainable, ethical practices.
The day started out a bit wet and wild but thankfully Little Bonnie Dot was there brewing up some comforting teas and coffees to warm the soul until the sun came out. All day, volunteers from Durrumbul Community Preschool were painting faces to raise funds for the school and the lovely ladies at The Australian Breastfeeding Association were selling raffle tickets to raise some much needed funds to cover the expenses of training local breastfeeding councilors. We had a beautiful little chill out area for sleeping bubs and nursing mamas that featured a view of Mount Chincogan, some freshly cut flowers and furniture donated by Clem’s Cargo in Brunswick Heads.
The Mama + Me Marquee was another lovely place where families could sit and eat lunch, tend to little ones, be entertained and learn about local family services. Mama Arianne took to the stage first with her Anti Gravity Yoga Demonstrations, followed by Mama JoAnn from The Autism Advisory Program. Asuka from The Wonderlings created a wonderful opportunity for our little creatives to dance, play and create in an interactive dance workshop. It was the highlight of my little Mr 4’s day!
But don’t you dare think that the papas were forgotten at The Mama + Me Markets. PAPACOQ created a Papas Lounge, where kids could take a photo in the PAPACOQ photobooth, draw a picture for their PAPACOQ, or write them a certificate of appreciation for being a positive male role model in their life.
We also had Lotte from This Old Duck join us to craft it up with the kids, making flowers for all the mamas out of recycled materials. There was even a giant game space for the kids to play giant Jenga and giant Connect Four! Not to mention Mama Tamara from Flick Photography shooting some beautiful mini portrait sessions throughout the day in her pop-up photography studio for pregnancy, newborn and family session.
Another highlight of the day was the beautiful songstress Eleea Navarro’s performance in the Mama + Me Marquee. Her playful soulful music was an absolute delight on both big and little ears alike.
Overall the January Mama + Me Markets were a complete hit and I cannot wait to do it all over again as soon as possible! So stay tuned for an exciting date announcement coming very soon.
